Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th 1964) is an American politician and attorney who is the 49th and current vice-president of the United States. She is both the first female vice president and the highest ranking female official of the United States. She is a senator and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. She started her career with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. After that, she was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California from 2017-2021. Harris beat Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman to serve in Congress and the first South Asian American American to do so in the United States Senate. As a senator, Harris advocated for healthcare, federal de-scheduling and the legalization of cannabis which could lead to the citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She is best known for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials in Senate hearings.
